No significant locust activity in Gujarat

New Delhi, July 6 (UNI) There is no fresh report of any locust swarm movement, settling and population-development from any locality of district Kutch (Bhuj) except in villages Nanicher, Shilpar and Khangarpur where the locust population was reported earlier in the week.

Two separate Locust Warning Organisation (LWO) teams have been deployed, one each in Khadoa and Lakhpat area today and one is kept standby at LWO Bhuj for emergency purposes.

The State Government teams deployed at village Dayapar of Lakhpat Taluka have also reported no locust activity. One LWO field camp has been set up in Lakhpat area today for intensive locust monitoring and undertaking control operations, if needed.

All the resources required for control operations are in place to meet any locust emergency, according to Ministry of Agriculture here today.
