UK cartoon protester guilty of soliciting murder
LONDON, July 5 (Reuters) A British Muslim who called for Sept. 11-style attacks across Europe during a protest outside London's Danish embassy against newspaper cartoons was convicted today of soliciting murder.
Web designer Mizanur Rahman was found guilty at a retrial at the Old Bailey criminal court in London after he was said to have called for the ''indiscriminate killing'' of British troops in Iraq.
He is the fourth person to be convicted over the demonstrations in February 2006 against the publication of cartoons in a Danish newspaper that many Muslims considered insulting to Islam and the Prophet Mohammad.
Two of the other defendants have been found guilty of soliciting to murder and another of inciting racial hatred. All four will be sentenced on July 18.
A jury last year had found Rahman guilty of inciting racial hatred but had been unable to reach a verdict on the soliciting murder charge.
