SUCI demands warfooting measures to control grave situation
Kolkata, Jul 5 (UNI) The SUCI today demanded that the state government should take warfooting measures to control the present ''grave'' situation arising out of heavy downpour in the past three days.
In a statement here, SUCI state secretary Provash Ghosh alleged that the ruling government had spent several crores of rupees to celebrate the completion of their 30 years in the saddle, while the state machinery had collapsed in a few hours of rain.
He said the government was earmarking several crores of rupees for the reforms in underground drainage system, but the problems were aggravating.
The state government should immediately provide relief materials, drinking water and medical assistance to the affected people and punish those, involved in corruption over the relief materials, he stated.
