Stern action against crimes on women : Antony

Thiruvananthapuram, July 5 (UNI) Defence Minister A K Antony today warned that the Kerala Government would take stern action against those indulging in crimes against women.

Reacting to a molestation attempt on a woman by a solider in Kangan area of Ganderbal district of Kashmir, he said ''we will not spare anybody, even if he is a Civilian or a Service man''.

A soldier of 24 Rashtriya Rifles deployed in the Kangan area of Ganderbal district of Kashmir, had allegedly attempted to molest a 20 year-old woman, during the mid-day hours.

The nervous jawan in an attempt to escape opened fire with his service rifle, killing a footpath vendor and injuring himself when the local people came to her rescue.
