Several areas submerged following incessant rains
Jamshedpur, Jul 5 (UNI) Life almost came to a grinding halt following incessant rains during the past 48 hours with several catchment areas in and around the steel city submerged.
Official sources here said rain water was logged in several catchment areas alongside the rivers Kharkai and Subarnarekha.
The water level in both rivers was rising alarmingly and might cross the danger mark if rain continued for another 24 hours, sources added.
People had to face hardship as water entered some residential colonies here.
The residents complained that lack of proper drainage system was the reason of waterlogging inside the colonies.
Train services in the Chakradharpur division of South Eastern railways were also affected due to heavy downpour.
Several long distance trains were running late, railway sources here said.
The MET office recorded 181.7 mm rains during the past 24 hours and predicted more rains in the next 24 hours.
