Petroleum institute to be set up in Rae Bareli

New Delhi, Jul 5 (UNI) The Cabinet today approved setting up of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology at Jias, Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.

A Bill to this effect will be introduced in the ensuing monsoon session of the parliament.

The basic course would start from 2008-09 academic session, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said after the Cabinet meeting here.

Also various posts in the academic and supporting staff would be created during the same period with a budgetary support of Rs 285 crores to the Institute during 11th five year plan.

The institute, Mr Das Munsi said will serve as the fountain-head for the nurturing of world-class human resources capable of serving as the leaders and innovators in petroleum technology and engineering covering the entire hydrocarbon value chain.
