Haryana raises state rewards for decorated soldiers
Chandigarh, July 5 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a raise in the state rewards for War Gallantry and Peace Time Gallantry Award Winners of the state.
Addressing a Civil Military Liaison Conference at Chandimandir near here, Mr Hooda said the recipient of Param Vir Chakra would get Rs 25 lakh in cash instead of Rs 1,72,500 while the recipient of Mahavir Chakra Award would be given Rs 15 lakh in cash as against the earlier Rs 1.15 lakh.
He said the recipient of Vir Chakra would be given Rs 10 lakh in cash instead of Rs 57,000 while the winners of Sena medal would get Rs five lakh instead of Rs 23000.
The recipients of Ashok Chakra would get Rs 25 lakh instead of Rs 1.20 lakh while the recipient of Kirti Chakra would get Rs 15 lakh as against Rs 62000 and Shaurya Chakra Award winners would get a sum of Rs 10 lakh in cash instead of Rs 35000.
The Chief Minister said Rs 2.50 lakh would be given in cash instead of Rs 13000 to those having Mention-in-Dispatches.
The Chief Minister said that State Government was committed to the welfare of serving soldiers and ex-servicemen and a number of facilities had been given and relief had been provided to the martyrs, serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their dependents.
He said that every 10th soldier in the Defence forces of the country hailed from Haryana and there were about 2.71 lakh ex-servicement in the state.
