EC should clear delimitation confusion by year end: BJP
New Delhi, July 5 (UNI) The BJP today asked the Election Commission to take a decision by the year end to clear the confusion regarding the implementation of the Delimitation Commission's recommendations before 2009 General Elections.
BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the Delimitation Commission had finalised most of its recommendations and an air of confusion was all pervasive if these would come into effect for 2009 elections.
The EC should clear the confusion as it would bring relief not only to the candidates but also to the political parties.
Many of the reserved category constitutencies will become general constituencies while the general constituencies will become reserved. The candidates and the parties required some time to switch over to the changes, he said.
The NDA has called a meeting of its MPs to discuss the issue on July 17 in Delhi, party sources said.
