CM directs APSRTC to run spl buses for ladies
Hyderabad, July 5 (UNI) Responding to representation from women, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to run 'Ladies Special' buses in as many routes as possible for the convenience of women in the city.
The Chief Minister said women were facing difficulties in travelling by buses because of heavy rush on many routes particularly, during school and office hours.
APSRTC Managing Director Dinesh Reddy asked the Regional Manager to identify the routes and commence the Ladies Specials in a day or two.
The APSRTC City Region decided to operate Ladies Specials on 66 routes. The Ladies Specials would be operated during peak hours.
In all 132 single trips were being proposed exclusively for women commuters.
