Bomb hoax at Karippur airport

Kozhikode, July 5 (UNI) An anonymous call that a bomb has been planted at the Karippur international airport, near here, turned out to be a hoax, today.

Airport Officiating Director V S P Chinson said the caller informed the Air India staff at 0920 hrs that a bomb had been planted at the airport, keeping the airport officials and security personnel on tenterhooks.

He said immediately after the receipt of the threat, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee went into an emergency meeting and decided to take remedial measures.

However, the threat turned out to be a hoax as no explosive material was found after detailed screening of the airport and adjoining areas by the Bomb Squad, he added.
