Raj: Army steps-in to rescue kid from borewell

Jaipur, July 5: The Army is continuing efforts to rescue five-year-old Suraj, who fell into a 300-foot-deep borewell 20 hours back here.

According to police, at least five JCB machines were put into use to dig in the surrounding areas of the borewell. Till now, 20 feet of the tunnel had been dug and the digging was expected to be complete till this afternoon.

Suraj fell into a borewell in Nimera village under Bagru police station in Jaipur district last evening around 1600 hrs while playing.

The police has not been able to ascertain whether Suraj was alive and safe. A close circuit monitoring Suraj's condition had not been able to ascertain his condition. Oxygen was being supplied to Suraj through a pipe. As he fall into a pipe, there were less chances of his being buried under earth.

Villagers had also pitched in the rescue efforts.
