Left to reconsider support to UPA after Prez poll
Ranchi, July 4: All the four Left parties extending outside support to the UPA government at the Centre will reconsider their stand after the elections of the President and Vice-President, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan today said. He told mediapersons here that the meeting of the Left parties would be convened to discuss the matter next month.
''We will discuss the functioning of the Union government and also the nature of our support,'' Mr Bardhan said.
To a query, he said they were not against industrialisation, but Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was not necessary for it.
Referring to Singur and Nandigram isues, the CPI leader said the West Bengal government had admitted ''fault'' on the issue and no chemical hub would come up at Nandigram.
He alleged that indusrialists were invovled in the illegal trade of land over SEZ.
