Hyundai unveils CNG powered Santro at 3.25 lk
New Delhi, July 4: Country's second largest car manufacturer andthe largest exporter of automobiles, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL),today launched its compressed natural gas (CNG) powered Santro (XK,non-AC) variants at Rs 3,25,361 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The dual fuel Santro which uses CNG as an alternative, comes witha 1.1 litre petrol engine. The vehicle is compatible with the 'cleanerfuel' without any modification.
''We feel this will increase the attractiveness of the Santro asit will considerably bring down the running cost. Also, the fuel iseco-friendly and HMIL will now offer this choice of fuel to its Santrocustomers,'' HMIL Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxenasaid in the statement.
The on-board CNG cylinder has a capacity of approximately 12 kgand the running cost on CNG for the Santro is estimated to be in theregion of one rupee per kilometre or even less depending on the drivingcycle with savings of almost 60-70 per cent for the consumer.
The company has tied up with the leading CNG kit supplier Minda Auto Gas Ltd to supply the CNG kits.
The advanced kit is not only safe, but with an advanced Lambda control system, ensures it meets the Euro III emission norms.
HMIL has an exclusive arrangement with leading fitment specialistNGVI of Korea to retro fit the kits on the Santro model, so that thereare no flaws in the fitment process.
The new vehicle will have a manual selector switch, which wouldenable the driver to easily switch from gasoline to CNG and vice versa.
