Govt sets up Board to regulate petro, gas sector
New Delhi, July 4: The Government today said it has set up a boardto regulate the downstream activities in the petroleum and natural gassector.
The board, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB),will regulate activities such as refining, processing, storage,transportation, distribution, marketing and sale of petroleum, itsproduct and natural gas.
The function of the board also include registration of entities,establish and operate LNG terminals and establish storage facilities,and authorise entities to lay, operate or expand a common carrier orcontract carrier or city gas distribution network.
Mr L Mansingh is appointed as the first Chairperson of the Boardand L K Singhvi, B S Negi and Sudha Mahalingam have joined as Membersof the Board, a statement said.
The Government has also approved the appointment of Y P C Dangay as member (legal) of the board.
