West Bengal: Five arrested in extortion case

Barasat, Jul 4: Police has arrested at least five persons from Gadamara village under Amdanga police station in North 24 Parganas and one from Madhyamgram here last night.

Police today said the miscreants were arrested for allegedly extorting money and assaulting a truck driver on the NH 34.

They were arrested on a complaint lodged by the driver, police added.

In another incident one was person was arrested from Madhyamgram under Barasat police station for allegedly looting money from a few banks.

Police said the miscreant, who had confessed his crime, had stolen seven credit cards June 28.
