Deccan aircraft grounded after technical snag
Kolkata, July 4: An Air Deccan aircraft was yesterday grounded at the city airport after its engines stopped at the final take off delaying seven other flights, airport sources said.
The Delhi bound Air Deccan flight via Raipur got stuck on the main runway of the NSCBI as both the engines stopped and the nose wheel got stalled during the final take off at 0630 hours.
Airport authorities said one of the wheels of the flight got stuck after the engines stopped while the plane was proceeding on the runway.
With the steering or nose wheel of the aircraft could not turn around for the final take off run, the airplane with some 100 passengers aboard stranded on the main runway. The aircraft was then being towed back to the bay where the passengers disembarked and the plane was grounded.
This delayed some seven flights to different destinations, the sources added.
