BJP opens disc on strategy for Presidential polls

Jaipur, July 4: The Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP) today openeddiscussion over its strategy for smooth polling and organisationalpreparations for July 19 presidential election.

The discussions were held at the joint meeting of the BJP MPs,MLAs and members of the election coordination committee at the BJPstate headquarters here. BJP Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha SushmaSwaraj, party General Secretary and Rajasthan unit's incharge Gopi NathMunde, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, party state president MaheshSharma, party MPs and MLAs attended the meeting.

The BJP and its NDA allies, which are supporting Vice PresidentBhairon Singh Shekhawat in the presidential election as an Independent,enjoy commondable position in the electoral college in the state.

BJP holds 122 seats in the 200 member Rajasthan Assembly. Onemember Rajasthan Samajik Nyaya Manch has already announced its supportfor Mr Shekhawat while three membered INLD and 2 member JD(U) are yetto clear their stand.

The BJP presently holds 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats from thestate besides having six members in the Rajya Sabha from the state.
