Trains cancelled in Gujarat due to torrential rains

Ahmedabad, July 3: The Western Railway (WR) authorities today said they have cancelled five trains in Ahmedabad and Rajkot divisions due to heavy rains in Gujarat.

''Due to heavy rains, especially at Gholvad, Valsad and Bharuch and in various sections of Ahmedabad and Rajkot Division at Palanpur, Jalliya Devani and Wanthli, the authorities have decided to cancel the following trains for today,'' according to railway sources here.

The trains that were cancelled include 2972 Bhavnagar-Bandra Express, 9032 Bhuj-Mumbai-Kutch Express, 9120 Veravar-Ahmedabad Express, 9119 Ahmedabad-Veraval Express and 242 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Passenger, leaving Ahmedabad, will however remain cancelled for want of rake, sources said.

Among the trains that were running late include 9032 Bandra-Bhuj- Kuchh Express (5 hrs), 9017 Bandra-Jamnagar Sawrastra Express (3 hrs), 4708 Bandra-Bikaner Express (5 hrs), 9143 Bandra-Ahmedabad Lokshakti Express (2 hrs), 9005 Mumbai-Okha Sawrastra Mail (4 hrs), 2479 Jodhpur-Bandra Suryanagari Express (4 hrs), 9109 Gujarat Queen (1 hr), 2009 Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express (1.30 hrs), 2010 Ahmedabad-Mumbai Shatabdi Express (1.50 hrs), 2901 Mumbai-Ahmedabad Gujrat Mail (1.30 hrs), 1464 Jabalpur-Veraval Express (1 hr), 9707 Bandra-Jaipur Aravali Express (00.30 hr), 2476 Jammutabi-Hapa Express (1 hr), 2958 New Delhi-Ahmedabad Rajdhani Express (7 hrs).
