Two persons arrested; fake currency worth Rs 1.20 lakh seized
Mumbai, Jul 2 (UNI) Two persons have been arrested for allegedly possessing fake currency worth Rs 1.20 lakh in Rs 500 note denomination.
Acting on a tip-off that two persons -- Najrul Sheikh (26) and Tapjul Sheikh (20) -- would be coming to Crawford market in South Mumbai to circulate the fake currency, the MRA Marg police laid a trap and arrested the accused late last night, police said here today.
However, two of their associates managed to escape.
The police have recovered Rs 1,20,500 fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs 500, sources added.
