TRS stages sit in before Secretariat : MLAs arrested
Hyderabad, July 2 (UNI) More than 1000 Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) activists and 14 MLAs of the TRS were arrested when they attempted to lay siege to the state Secretariat, demanding that the government implement GO 610 and repatriate all non-local government employees from Telangana region.
Police said the TRS activists, led by the TRS MLAs, rushed towards the Secretariat and staged a sit in before it. The security forces deployed at the spot immediately swung into action, preventing them from entering the prescints.
TRS Floor leader in the state assembly, Vijayarama Rao alleged that the government did allow the TRS members express their protest against the government's 'negligence' in implementing the 610 GO.
The TRS would continue its struggle until the government rendered justice to the people of Telangana, he warned.
City police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said more than 1000 activists and 14 TRS MLAs were arrested during their agitation at the Secretariat. Tight security has been provided in all cross roads.
