Suman Mahto appointed JMM general secretary

Jamshedpur, July 2 (UNI) Assassinated Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Sunil Mahto's wife, Suman, has been appointed as the party's national general secretary.

Incarcerated party supremo Shibu Soren had issued a letter to Ms Mahto in this regard, party sources said.

The Jamshedpur MP, who was also the party's national general secretary, was gunned down by naxalites at Baghuria village in East Singhbhum district on March 3.

The by-election to the Jamshedpur Parliamentary seat would be held soon and Ms Mahto was being considered a front runner for the prestigious seat.

The elevation of Ms Mahto for the party's post indicated that she would be the probable party candidate for the coming by-poll, the party sources said.
