SP leaders stall UP Council proceedings; House adjourned
Lucknow, July 2 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders today created a ruckus, forcing the adjournment of the House in Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad, following the arrest of senior party leader Ram Nageena Yadav.
Before the question hour could start, SP leaders requested Council Chairman Chaudhary Sukhram Singh Yadav to hear Ram Nageena's case.
However, the Chairman asked them to wait till the question hour finished but shouting anti-UP government slogans, the vexed SP leaders rushed to the well of the Upper House.
Realising the situation was getting out of control, the Council was adjourned first for 15 minutes and later till 1200 hrs.
On June 29, SP leader Ram Nageena Yadav was detained in Deoria under some case. However, he was released on a personal bond the next day.
When the proceedings of the Council began at 1200 hrs, RLD leader Munna Singh Chauhan, BJP leaders Dr Nepal Singh and Yagya Dutt Sharma, Congress leader Naseeb Pathan and SP members condemned the police action on Ram Nageena Yadav and considered it to be a breach of privilege.
They demanded the Chairman to pass breach of privilege motion against the policemen involved in the act.
Meanwhile, Council leader Swami Prasad Maurya informed the Chairman that the state government had summoned the detailed report of the incident.
He said ''The government is committed to punish the accused, whosoever he might be, but would never take action against those who are innocent.'' The SP leaders rushed to the well again, following which the proceedings were adjourned till 1300 hrs.
