Pakistan repatriates 50 Indian prisoners
Wagah, July 2: The Pakistani authorities today repatriated 50 Indian fishermen through this joint border road check post.
The fishermen, 45 of them hailing from Gujarat and five from Madhya Pradesh, were freed after undergoing imprisonment in different jails of Pakistan for about two-and-a-half years.
The fishermen were arrested after they had inadvertantly strayed into Pakistani waters.
The fishermen were handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) authorities by the Pakistan Rangers after signing the repatriation papers this afternoon.
A medical examination of the fishermen was conducted and they would now be sent to Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh along with officials from these states.
