Pakistan, India to exchange prisoners on July 2
Islamabad, June 30: Pakistan and India are all set to exchange 93 prisoners on Monday at Wagah border near Lahore.
The prisoners included 50 Indians and 43 Pakistanis, Daily Times quoted sources as saying today.
Officials of the interior and home ministries of Pakistan and India respectively would exchange the prisoners, the sources said.
India will hand over 43 prisoners to Pakistan including 33 civilians and 10 fishermen. However, Pakistan will hand over 50 prisoners, all fishermen, to India.
The prisoners' exchange is likely to be enhanced in the coming months, as home secretaries of both the countries were scheduled to meet in the first week of July and release of the prisoners will be on the top of their agenda, the newspaper added.
