Pakistan asks India for plans to construct dam on Chenab river
Islamabad, July 2 (UNI) Pakistan has asked India to inform about proposals, if any, regarding construction of dams on river Chenab .
''Under provisions of the Indus Basin Water Treaty, India is required to inform Pakistan of any such activity six months before undertaking of any project,'' foreign office spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam told a press briefing here today.
She added that the Indus Water Treaty allows only run of the river projects.
Talking about the meeting of Interior Secretaries of India and Pakistan beginning in New Delhi from tomorrow, she said this is part of the fourth round of composite dialogue.
''The two sides will exchange views on a number of issues like counter terrorism, narcotics drugs and human trafficking, money laundering, fake currency, counsellor access, civilian prisoners, fishermen, MoU on drug demand reduction, and prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotics drugs,'' she stated.
