Naga students manhandled in Asom

Kohima, July 2 (UNI) At least five Naga students have been manhandled by some youths at Titabor in Sivsagar district of Asom.

In a statement given by the victims here today, the five Naga students, who were in the delegation of the annual conference of All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) held at Mokokchung, said that they were severely manhandled by some youths who challenged them on their way back to Kohima on Saturday.

The victims, while narrating the incident, said they were returning to Kohima via Asom in two vehicles, when they were stopped by a few youths on two motorcycles in Titabor town and beat them up.

When the other members of the delegation tried to rescue their friend, they were also beaten up by the ruffians. The riotus youths however, stopped after the female members intercepted them.

According to reports, the vehicle in which they were travelling were fitted with ANCSU flags and stickers, which the victim members were unaware of.

Members of ANCSU demanded that a case be registered against the Assamese youths with the Titabor police.
