Maoist attacks in Bihar indicates intelligence failure:Rabri
Patna, Jul 02 (UNI) Former Bihar Chief Minister and Opposition leader Rabri Devi today held government's 'intelligence failure' and 'myopic vision' responsible for the growing maoists menace in the state.
Taking a dig at the Nitish government for the recent attacks of the ultras in Rohtas district, that claimed 10 lives, including seven police personnel, Rabri Devi here said the incident was a glaring example of intelligence failure of the state government.
She alleged that instead of rushing to the spot, the police and bureaucrats issued statements sitting in the secretariat.
Some private channels had reacently shown the smuggle of dangerous firearms and explosives into the state through Nepal border but the state government had hardly taken any step to check it, she accused.
She said apart from strengthening the existing police machinery, the menace could be tackled through concrete socio-economic policy and by involving the common people.
She said, ''The state's policies have derailed from the track of development and have shattered its social fabric.'' According to her, there were inadequate police personnel with less firearms at sensitive and insecured following which they have become soft target of the extremists.
The 'faulty' system existing at the state headquarter had created anguish among the cops she said suggesting the government to present a concrete work plan to tackling the maoists activities in the coming Assembly session.
