Major tragedy averted, IED defased in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 2 (UNI) Police today averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants target security forces in south Kashmir.

Official sources said a police patrol party noticed an unclaimed parcel at crowded Bonbazar in south Kashmir district of Shopian this afternoon.

The area was immediately sealed and all those present in the area were shifted to safer places.

Later, A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned and the 5 kg IED was defused without causing any damage.
