London Heathrow terminal closed over suspect package

LONDON, July 1 (Reuters) British authorities evacuated part of London's Heathrow airport while police investigated a suspect package, airport operator BAA said.

The suspect bag was in the departures section of Terminal 3 which handles long-haul flights from the airport. British police are on high alert after a fuel-loaded jeep was rammed into Glasgow airport yesterday.

''BAA can confirm that due to a suspect package Terminal 3 has been closed. Police are in attendance and are working with airport staff to get the terminal open as soon as possible,'' BAA said in a statement.
