Kerala HC directs govt to file affidavit on Munnar
Kochi, July 2 (UNI) Kerala High Court today directed the state government to file an affidavit on a petition seeking setting up of an expert Committee to assess the damage caused to the principal rivers and streams by encroachments in Munnar.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K T Sankaran gave the direction while hearing a petition, filed by the Munnar Restoration Society.
The petitioner sought a direction to the state to appoint a Committee consisting of experts in environment, architecture and watershed management to assess the damage caused to the principal rivers and streams by encroachers with reference to the litho maps pertaining to the first survey of the land at Munnar and suggest remedial measures to the court within a time frame.
The petitioner also sought a direction to the state to produce the reports, prepared by the Legislative sub-Committees on Munnar.
