Drop move to grant autonomous to JIPMER: Action Committee

Puducherry, July 2 (UNI) Sporting badges, employees of the centrally-administered JIPMER hospital here today were backon duty, urging the Union Government to drop its proposed move to grant autonomous status to the institution.

The employees dropped the proposed demonstration and instead wore badges as a 14-member parliamentary standing committee team headed by Digvijay Singh, which arrived here agreed to meet the JIPMER anti-conversion action committee leaders.

The team has come here to elicit the views of various sections on the autonomous status issue.

According to the action committee sources, they would put forth their views before the standing committee, urging them to drop the move to grant autonomous status to JIPMER.
