Jaipur, July 2 (UNI) Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has demanded the implementation of price index linked minimum wages policy in Rajasthan.

Addressing a press conference here today, CITU Rajasthan general secretary Ravindra Shukla said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the last Assembly election had promised the implemenation of this policy but the government did precious little in this direction after three and half years in power. He said the neighbouring states like Haryana, Delhi, MP and UP had already implemented this policy.

CITU demanded that minimum wages be increased to Rs 150.

Presently the minimum wages for unskilled is Rs 73, semi skilled Rs 77 and skilled labour is fixed at Rs 89. Mr Shukla said CITU has called for a day's strike on October 4 to press their demand.
