TN: AIDWA delegates to meet Chief Ministers

Tiruchirapalli, July 2: A delegation of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) will meet the Chief Ministers of various states to urge them to implement Sachar Committee recommendations for the uplift of Muslim women.

Talking to newspersons here last night, AIDWA President Subhashini Ali said they had already met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and submitted a memorandum, urging him to implement the Sachar Committee recommendations.

AIADWA had prepared a 13-point charter of demands to be submitted to the Chief Ministers.

She said the West Bengal government had accepted the suggestion to draw up a sub-plan for the uplift of Muslim women and they had already met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati in this connection.

AIDWA had launched a nationwide signature campaign to end the triple talaq and men polygamy. The campaign would end in December this year, she added.
