Suppression can never bring peace: Governor
Kohima, July 1: Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan has said that peace can neither be brought with wealth nor by suppression.
Addressing a seminar organised by Peace Channel at Dimapur yesterday, the Governor said insurgency in the state, which had declined during 1998-2005, is rearing its ugly head again.
He said, ''Peace and violence appears to be two sides of the human nature. In this emerging global community we should think of interdependence not independence.'' Delivering the key-note address, Nagaland Post editor Geoffrey Yaden said,''Peace is a means of non-violent resolution of conflict and the establishment of universal values such as respect for life, human rights, liberty, equity and justice.''
