Tamil Nadu: Rajendran sworn in as MLA

Chennai, July 1: Newly-elected Congress MLA from the Madurai West Assembly Constituency K S K Rajendran was sworn in as MLA in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Avudayappan's Chamber in the Secretariat here today.

Mr Avudayapan administ tered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Rajendran, who won the beat in the June 26 bypoll.

Present on the swearing-in-ceremony were Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, his Cabinet colleagues, M K Stalin, Arcot N Veerasamy, Duraimurugan, Union Ministers A Raja and S Raghupathy.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President M Krishnasamy and Treasurer D Sudarsanam, Assembly Deputy Speaker N P Doraisamy, Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) President G K Mani, were among others, who participated in the function.

The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of AIADMK MLA,S V Shanmugam.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Rajendran said he would fulfil the requirements and expectations of the Madurai West Assembly Constituency with the support of State and the Central Government.

He said he would take steps to develop Rajaji Hospital at Madurai, besides addressing the problems of weavers in Sellur area coming under the Constituency.

Mr Rajendran said he would give priority to develop the basic amenities of the Constituency.
