Assn to protest assault on priest

Mangalore, June 30 (UNI) The Federation of Karnataka Christian Association will hold a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office on July two to protest against the alleged assault on a Carmelite priest at Katkere, near Kundapura in Udupi district on Monday last.

The president of Konkani Prachar Andholan, Roy Castelino told reporters here tonight that Carmelite priest Fr Sylvester Pereira and two Brothers belonging to the Karnataka Province of Carmel Ashram at Katkere were allegedly physically assaulted by a group of Bajrang Dal activists on June 25 when the priest had gone to a hospital in Kundapura with others for a medical check-up.

He said a group of people allegedly belonging to Bajrang Dal confronted the priest and two Brothers when they were waiting outside the hospital and assaulted with charges of involving in conversion activities. He also demanded appropriate actions against the culprits.
