Ultras involved in ambush on Army convoy killed

Srinagar, June 30 (UNI) Two militants, involved in the ambush on an Army convoy in which one soldier was killed and 21 others wounded in north Kashmir on Thursday, have been killed, a defence ministry spokesman said.

After the attack on the Army convoy at Kargam- Laingait in the frontier district of Kupwara, Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) of 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched an operation to nab the militants, he said.

Acting on inputs from different field sources, troops finally sealed Banday Mohalla the spokesman added. However, when the troops were about to storm a particular house, militants opened fire. The cordon around the house was further tightened and after transferring all the civilians to a safe place, troops also retaliated, killing both the militants in a six-hour-long operation.

A soldier was killed and 21 others were wounded in the attack by these militant on an army convoy on Baramulla-Handwara road.
