Two women arrested from Varanasi for kidnapping 2-yr-old boy
Surat, June 30 (UNI) Two women have been arrested from Varanasi in connection with the kidnapping of a two-year-old boy Sanjay Vagha Boriya, City police commissioner R M S Brar said.
Police today arrested Sangeeta Hanuman Harivansh Pathak and her sister Geeta from the later's house at Varanasi for kidnapping the toddler on June 26.
Sangeeta and Sonal, a relative of the victim, took the child to the local vegetable market where Sangeeta kidnapped the child and took him to Varanasi.
The child's family lodged a complaint on June 27 in the Kapodra police station based on which the police started the investigations.
The city police found Sangeeta to be the culprit and sent a special investigation team to Varanasi to search for the child who was found from Sangeeta's sister Geeta's house. Both have been arrested.
Accused Geeta committed the crime because she does not have a child of her own, police said.
Geeta was bringing up her sister's child and was keen to adopt a child. She therefore sought Sangeeta's help who aided her in kidnapping the child, police added.
A case has been registered against both the accused under the IPC sections 363, 365 and 114.
