Mumbai, Jun 30 (UNI) At least two people were killed and two others injured due to incessant rains that have been lashing the city in the past 24 hours.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Commmissioner Jairaj Phatak told mediapersons today that of the two deaths, one was killed in wall collapse at Tulsiwadi in Bhandup in eastern suburbs this afternoon, while the other was drowned at Mulund. The body has been fished out and sent for a post mortem.

He said nine cases of house and wall collapse and two cases of landslide were reported by this afternoon in the city and its suburbs.

As the level water of Mithi river has been rising, 1800 people residing in the adjoining areas of Kanti Nagar have been shifted to municipal schools, which have been turned into relief camps.

He said four rivers and nalluhs are likely to overflow, making evacuation in two-three regions neccessary.

About 200 to 250 people from Kanjur Marg (East) have also been shifted to the safer place as water entered in their huts, he said.
