Traffic affected due to landslide on Bhor-Mahad Road

Pune, Jun 30 (UNI) Traffic came to a standstill on Bhor-Mahad Road due to a landslide this morning at Varandha Ghat near Bhor in rural Pune.

Resident District Collector Chintamani Joshi said that due to precautions taken earlier, there were no casualties.

However, since the water level was rising in Veer Dam, around 7024 cusecs water was released last night.

''Due to heavy rains since the past 24 hours, the water level is also rising in Khadakvasla Dam, and if this continues then next week we will begin releasing water ahead of schedule,'' he said.

So far, in the district, the maximum rainfall has been recorded in Vela taluka- 82mm and minimum at Purandar 2 mm.

Meanwhile, traffic flow has been slow but smooth on the Pune-Mumbai Expresswauy as well as NH-4 till noon today, highway police said.

As per flood control, Jt Municipal Commissioner Ashok Karamkar (PMC) said that presently the situation is under control. No untoward rain-related incident has been reported in the city. The dam wise water level in the district is as follows. Panshet 27.46 per cent, Varasgaon 19.57, Khadakvasla 43.26, Pavana 41.37, Mulshi 12.65, Chaskaman 15.99.
