State top leaders greet Mizos on Peace Day

Aizawl, Jun 30 (UNI) The top leaders in Mizoram today greeted the people on the 21st anniversary of the historic Mizo Peace Accord.

The Peace Accord was signed by the state government in 1986.

Governor Lt Gen(rtd) M M Lakhera congratulated the people for maintaining peace in the state for the last 21 years.

''Let us continue to work collectively to preserving and sustaining peace so that we can reach greater heights of achievements and growth,'' he said.

Chief Minister Zoramthanga said the collective efforts and desires of the people had brought peace to the state.

The peace and harmony had brought about the socio-economic progress and opened up vast opportunities for growth.

''I call upon all the people to preserve peace to the best of their abilities,'' Mr Zoramthanga.
