Record 98,000 Indians visit Singapore in May

Singapore, June 30: A record 98,000 Indian tourists visited the island nation in May, second only to 155,000 Indonesians, according to Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

In statistics released yesterday, the STB said it was a new record for visitors arriving from India in any month and about 21 percent higher than the previous record of 81,000 visitors from the country in May last year.

China came third with a total of 85,000 visitors followed by 59,000 from Australia and 51,000 from Malaysia.

Overall, the May tourists' arrival in Singapore was 820,000, an increase of 7.1 percent over the corresponding period last year.
