Police constable sentenced to life imprisonent

Davanagere, Karnataka, June 30 (UNI) A local court has convicted and sentenced a police constable to life imprisonment in a case relating to double murder.

The District and Sessions court judge S Sidhalingesh, who delivered the judgement yesterday, also slapped a fine of Rs 30,000 on the accused Hanumanthappa. The constable, who was attached to Karnataka Reserve Police, was stationed at Machenahalli in Shimoga district, official sources said.

The KTJ Nagar police in the city had registered a case against Hanummanthappa, after suspecting him of murdering his brother and his wife in October 2006.

During investigation it came in light that the accused after killing his brother and sister-in-law, fabricated the murder into suicide.
