Mizo govt takes a serious note on Bairabi incident
Aizawl, Jun 30 (UNI) The Mizoram government has taken a serious note on Bairabi incident, where the Asom police arrested four labourers working on the field of state's first chief minister late Ch Chhunga on June 27, official sources said here today.
About 50 police and CRPF personnel, headed by Hailakandi, Asom, executive magistrate and DSP arrested the four labourers while they were working at late Chhunga's paddy field.
However, the reason behind the arrest was not known.
Home Commissioner C Ropianga had urged his Asom counterpart to immediately release the arrested ones.
Meanwhile, state chief secretary Haukhum Hauzel had talked to the acting chief secretary of Asom demanding an unconditional release of the arrested persons and withdraw the case.
The arrested were, however, released on bail on June 28 evening.
He also said the additional troops of the 1st IR Battalion were sent to Bairabi, while a memorandum to urge the Centre to expedite the setting up of boundary commission to solve the Asom-Mizoram border dispute.
