Gastroenteritis claims nine lives in Punjab
Ludhiana, June 30 (UNI) Suspected gastroenteritis has claimed nine lives in Punjab since the last three days.
While five deaths have been reported from Badrukha village in Sangrur district, four have taken place in the Ghiaspura locality of Ludhiana city. However the health authorities in Sangrur and Ludhiana have claimed that the deaths are due to various other reasons, as a majority of those who had died were aged.
A report from Ludhiana said that the health authorities medically checked about 1200 persons in the Ghiaspura locality and have confirmed that 200 persons were suffering from minor gastroenteritis problem. Health authorities have distributed chlorine tablets at places where gastro cases have been reported.
