Five projects amounting Rs 354 crore cleared by EFC

New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) The Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC)of the Delhi Government today cleared five projects amounting to Rs 354 crore, including construction of a modern ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan within 24 months.

The projects cleared by the EFC meeting, presided over by Delhi Finance Minister A K Walia, included two projects each of the Education and Transport Department and one project of Health Department.

Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, Dr Walia said a modern ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan would be constructed within 24 months for which an amount of Rs 212 crore had been sanctioned by the EFC.

The new ISBT would help in smooth movement of Bus Traffic between Delhi, UP and Haryana. The new ISBT would have all amenities such as ATMs, convenient booking Centres and stalls.

All facilities would be arranged in a systematic manner to avoid congestion of passengers.

Dr Walia added a new OPD block at LNJP Hospital would be constructed within 24 months for which an amount of Rs 56.66 crore had been sanctioned. This would cater to the needs of large number of people residing in and around Central Delhi.

The new OPD Block would be earthquake-resistant and fully airconditioned. It would facilitate patients and their attendants in getting proper treatment without any hassle.

Dr Walia said that as part of its commitment to provide safety against fire to the students in Government school buildings, the state Government had decided to install fire safety equipments in 445 school buildings of eight districts of Delhi with an estimated cost of Rs 70.48 crore.

Dr Walia said an amount of Rs 5.91 crore had been sanctioned for construction of a Bus Depot at Sector-II Dwarka on 5.7 acre land which would be constructed within 18 months. The development of the Depot at Sector-II is on priority so that DTC bus operation can be started as per requirement of Dwarka Sub-city where fast development is in progress.
