Anand, Jun 30 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today began its two-day ''Kranti Gatha Yatra'' from Karamsad on completion of 150 years of the first freedom struggle in 1857.

The yatra led by BJYM president Jitendra Vaghani is a motorised ''Kranti Gatha Rath'' yatra. A jeep-turned-rath is being followed by BJYM members on scooters.

The rally began today at 1000 hrs and will traverse through Kheda, Godhra, Panchamahals before concluding in Vadodara tomorrow evening at 2000 hrs.

Addressing about 600 rath yatris before the commencement of the yatra, Health Minister Ashok Bhatt said that whosoever forgets and ignores history will do at his own peril as this will ultimately result in the extinction of his country and people.

Taking a dig at UPA, he said that the Centre was trying to gild the history and keep the facts of historical knowledge away from younger generation.

Pointing out the trend in this regard, he said that Afzal had attacked the foundation of this country and yet the UPA is making all efforts to help him escape from the hangman. UPA is now searching for a pliable President who would not sign the death warrant of Afzal adding that UPA was in cahoots with terrorists.

He said that the BJYM has begun this yatra to reinvigorate youth power and bring about enlightment on freedom struggle since those who are supposed to do it are not doing it for their own political interests, he said.

At a programme of 100 years of completion of Vande Mataram sometime back, both the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi were absent, he pointed out.

The beginning of the yatra also saw Gujarat Pradesh Yuva Congress secretary Yogendrasinh Solanki and ex-Congress councillor of Anand Girish Bhatt joining the BJP with their followers.

All local MLAs of Anand district, Tourism Minister C D Patel and youth leaders attended the flagging off ceremony.
