B'lore to host World trade fair on Construction Ind

Bangalore, June 30: More than 350 companies will participate in the first-ever India Build International (IBI) 2007 to be held here concurrently with the third Structural Engineers World Congress from November 3 to 6, Dr C S Vishwanatha, Vice President SEWC and Chairman, Technical Committee said.

He told newsmen here that the IBI Expo 2007 will showcase the entire gamut of civil engineering products and services including building materials, construction equipment and technology, electrical, sanitary, plumbing materials, plywood, glass and interiors. The event would be a valuable opportunity for all top engineering companies in the country to explore business interests in the ever-expanding global construction market place.

Dr Vishwanatha also informed that the Construction industry in India was vibrant and second largest recipient of Foreign Direct Investment after China. It is also second largest segment of the Indian economy with a size of over Rs 600 billion. With the huge demands for housing and the permission for 100 per cent FDI in housing offer excellent prospects for the industry.

He also informed that the visitor profile for the fair included the world's leading structural and civil engineers, consulting civil engineers, architects and builders attending the SEWC 2007.

Dr H C Visvesvaraya, Ex-chairman National Board of Accreditation who also spoke on the occasion have commended the organisers for having successful in getting the world's mega event on the construction industry to India. He said that the event was going to be a substantial congress in terms of contents. Exhorting that the construction and steel industry of the country was second to none in the world the event brings knowledge flow which is important for development and progress of the country he said.
