Bail granted to accused in ashtdhatu idol case

New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) A city court today granted bail to Aman Gupta, who was yesterday arrested along with one more person by the special staff of central district police for being in possession of a 400-year-old ashtdhatu idol of Lord Rama.

Aman, a businessman of Ghaziabad, and Rama Kant Shukla, a contactor of Mandavali in Delhi, were arrested when they were going to sell the idol at DDU marg ,the police said.

According to the DCP, the idol is estimated to be worth Rs 2 crore in the international market.

Vishal Vimal and Pramod Agarwal, counsel for the accused, argued on behalf of Aman in the court.

Metropolitan Magistrate Anil Kumar Sisodia after hearing the argument granted bail to Aman on furnishing two sureties of Rs 25,000 each.
