Puducherry, June 30 (UNI) Taking strong exception to the Puducherry municipality granting permission to two hotels for conducting classical dance, AIADMK state secrertary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today said the party would oppose it and agitate in front of the hotels.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the government should shoulder the responsibility for any law and order problems arising out of their agitations.

He said the previsous DMK regime had given permission for cabaret dances under the pretext of classical dances, which was later stopped following a stir by the AIADMK.

Again the municipality had given permission for classical dances with a condition that the authorities would frequently check the hotels, he pointed out.

Pointing out that an office-bearer of a voluntary organisation yesterday had revealed that there were 4000 sex workers in the Union Territory, the AIADMK leader asked whether those who rule in the name of Kamaraj were not ashamed of it.

He alleged that Puducherry had become a crime city with criminals taking asylum here.

Mr Anbazhagan strongly criticised the government for the appointment of members of a temple trust at Nellithoppe on the recommendation of former Chief Minister R V Janakiraman, who was not a legislator.

He said the government had announced that members of temple trust would be appointed only on recommendation from legislators and it was now deviating from its stance.

He also criticised the administration for its failure to get 50 per cent seats in private medical colleges here.
